The ITER Organization is opening multiple vacancies. The selection process will be conducted with the objective of filling one vacant position with also the purpose of drawing up a reserve list of rostered candidates for future vacant positions. The reserve list initially remains valid for two years, with the possibility of extension at the Director General's discretion.

Overview

Do you have an interest in the whole lifecycle engineering activities of large DC current high voltage (up to 80 kV) or high current (up to 70 kA) and high power (up to 60 MVA) voltage source and current source power converters, and power distribution system (ranging from 400 V to 400 kV), including electrical tests for ITER plant?

As an Electrical Technician, your goals include:

Assuring the Operator Supervision Rule during electrical systems installation in all ITER buildings.

Coordination and supervision of the Domestic Agency’s (Das) pre-selected electrical contractors working in the same buildings.

Success in this role includes:

  • Prepares and/or updates the operation procedures of different electrical system according to the operation experience feedback; Defines and prepares the missing procedures;
  • Follows up the resolution of the field engineering changes, and installation non-conformance related to his/her area of competency.

Key Duties, Scope, and Level of Accountability

  • Primary Responsibilities
  • Participates in the engineering design, manufacturing supervision, construction, testing, commissioning, and system integration of electrical components and systems;
  • Contributes to the development of plans and procedures for the activities to be performed, including the coordination of electrical contractor activities;
  • Collaborates in the investigations and troubleshooting of electrical distribution issues by performing necessary tests and analyses the results to propose solutions to the problem.
  • Runs the analysis of components and integrated system engineering and develops the procedures for the required Type and Factory Acceptance Tests;
  • Provides engineering support (analyzing system requirements, including managing interfaces, producing study reports, producing conceptual or engineering drawings) for the plan, design and procurement of the electrical components and systems.

  • Collects all required information to submit access request(s) on time and in accordance with internal regulations, as requested;
  • Implements the Quality Assurance (QA) & Quality Control (QC) requirements and standards for components and systems, in close relation with the Quality Management (QMD) Division;
  • Maintains a strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of the ITER Safety Program, values and ethics;
  • Witnesses Type and Factory Acceptance Tests.

Experience & Profile

  • Demonstrated experience and technical competencies in:
    • G4: Minimum 5 years’ experience in operation, maintenance and troubleshooting in the field of electrical components and systems, within complex and highly regulated environments or projects.
    • G5: Minimum 7 years’ experience in operation, maintenance and troubleshooting in the field of electrical components and systems, within complex and highly regulated environments or projects.
    • Essential competencies and experience required for success in the role:
      • Electrical and/or Instrumentation & Control (I&C) installation activities: knowledge, capabilities, and practices to perform engineering activities in electrical circuits’ components, subsystems, and systems;
      • Low and medium voltage distribution, components and systems design, procurement, installation, and commissioning;
      • Quality management: knowledge of international requirements, regulations, methods, and practices relevant to electrical safety within high and medium voltage environment;
      • Communicate Effectively: ability to adjust communication content and style to deliver messages to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment;
      • Drive results: ability to persist in the face of challenges to meet deadlines with high standards;
      • Manage Complexity: ability to analyze multiple and diverse sources of information to understand/define problems accurately before moving to proposals;
      • Instill trust: ability to apply high standards of team mindset, trust, excellence, loyalty, and integrity.
    • Advantageous competencies and experience:
      • Demonstrated capacity for problem-solving and project management is a plus;
      • Schedule management: developing, maintaining, and controlling a schedule, with the associated risks and opportunities, to ensure timely completion of tasks and overall objectives.
      • Quality control: techniques and activities, including monitoring, inspection, and corrective measures, to ensure that components, products, and services comply with all applicable requirements and standards.
  • Education:
    • Essential: Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in Electrical distribution domain or other relevant discipline;
    • The required education degree(s) may be substituted by extensive professional experience involving similar work responsibilities and/or additional training certificates in relevant domains.
  • Language requirements:
    • Fluent in English (written and spoken).

  • Knowledge of these competencies may be acquired through on-board training at basic understanding level for all ITER staff members;
  • Implements the technical control of the Protection Important Activities, as well as their propagation to the entire supply chain;
  • May be requested to perform other duties in support of the project as defined by your line manager, and when relevant upon the request of the matrix manager;
  • May be requested to work outside the ITER Organization reference working hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays, due to business needs - this may include on-call, shift work, etc.
  • May be requested to be part of any of the project/construction teams and to perform other duties in support of the project;
  • For staff expected to perform on-call, shift hours, or other work outside ITER Organization reference working hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, the possession of a driving license valid in France is required. no commuting vehicle will be provided by the ITER Organization.
  • Informs management of any important and urgent issues that cannot be handled by line or matrix management and that may jeopardize the achievement of the Project’s objectives;
